Can I get an infection from a missing screw from my dental implant?

Q.
The screw fell out and I am concerned if you can get an infection in that uncovered area because it is tender and the other implant is protruding a little out of the gum area….I have called my dentist but I haven’t been able to speak w/him

Thank you for your enquiry.

I would strongly recommend you get an emergency appointment with your dentist to have a new healing abutment placed. You don’t want to get food stuck down there as you will find it difficult to clean.

I just woke up and my cover screw was in my mouth from one of my uncompleted upper implants. What do I do? Is it an emergency or should I just call on Monday?

Hi, I just confronted with the same problem, but all the dentists I asked (including in the Harley Street clinic) told me that they would never take a responsibility to put the healing abutment back in the implant made by a doctor other than themselves. Unfortunately, my implantologist is no longer available. What to do?
