Can braces treat overlapping teeth?

Q. My top set of teeth tilt slightly to the right, so that they overlap my bottom set. If I were to bite so that my front top & bottom were touching, then I would have a big gap inbetween the top and bottom on the left, but not on the right. I was told by my a dentist many years ago that this was called a ‘side-bite’ & could be easily corrected by orthodontic treatment? I didn’t follow it up at the time but I’m growing more and irritated by my horrible teeth! My teeth are also quite wonky but that can be sorted with braces. Could you tell me if my problem is easily treatable? I want to keep the treatment as natural as possible (such as braces) because I don’t want something that won’t last and that I will have to fork out to replace in 10/20 years time. Thank You,
A. Braces are the best long term treatment you need to look at possible fixed braces such as the damon system or invisible systems such as Invisalign.  It sounds like you need to have the jaws slightly expanded on one side to correct this problem.  Find a good orthodontist or cosmetic dentist and go for a consultation.
