can an implant be put in sooner than 6 months?

Q. Over the Xmas period my front crown snapped off – I have had the rest of the tooth(left in the gum) removed this monday. Ihave opted for an implant and currently have a front tooth on a plate to wear in the meantime – this is awful! The other front tooth is a already a crown. I will be having a new crown on that tooth at the same time. As implants take such a long time I am desperate to know if there is anything I can do other than this awful plate which I have to remove to eat – which obviously is completely impractible when dining out or at work etc. A bridge makes me nervous as good teeth will have to be scaled down to fit it – can an implant be put in sooner than 6 months? I also have 3 weddings to attend this year – help.

A. At my practice in Chelmsford we place a lot of implants at the same time as the tooth is removed, or very soon afterwards, using a technique known as immediate implants. This works really well and often avoids the need to wear any temporary dentures. Try www.advanceimplantclinic.com/single-teeth.html for more information
You may need to find a practice with more experience in this technique
