What is the best age to have a bone graft and implant?
Q. My daughter was born without her #7 adult tooth, she has been through 2 phases of braces and is now 13-14 in Nov. Above the space of the missing tooth is a very noticable indent in her gums. My question is; What is the best age for her to have a bone graft and implant? And is it possable to do the bone graft to remove the indent now and use a maryland bridge instead or do an implant in her late teens or early 20’s. Will the bone graft hold or will it disintegrate?
A. Unless an implant is put into the graft it will shrink away. My advice would be to place the maryland and wait till she is 19 for a graft and implant.
how long should a bone graft be left to settle before an implant is inserted,
thank you for your enquiry. It depends on the type of bone graft and how much bone has been grafted, it can be anything from 2 months onwards.
i need 3 teeth surgically extracted is it necessary to have bone grafting if no implants are going to be done.they have told me i could go with a bridge or implants my insurance does not cover implants and i do not at this time have the money is it necessary to do the bone grafting now or is it something that can wait to a later day what are the complications if i have the teeth removed without the grafting
My sister has porcelain veneers which were attached to her real teeth and they have just come off including the teeth, which were cracked in the process, leaving nothing for new veneers to be fitted onto. Im guessing after doing a little research she would have to opt for the dental implant surgery, wanted to know normally how long a dental implant procedure would take, including the removal of the roots and replacing them with screws and the implants.
