After the failure of my bridge what are my options to replace it?
I lost my two front teeth in a mining accident when I was about 20 years old. About 15 years ago I had a bridge made and was reasonably happy with the result. last week the bridge broke and the two teeth supporting it are no longer able to support a replacement which leaves me with large gap which I have a temporary denture. My dentist suggested implants as a solution can you please suggest my options and approximate costs. I am now 64 but go scuba diving and play flugal horn as a hobby which present difficulties with dentures.. Your help would be much appreciated
Hi and thanks for your questions
treatment can sometime be complicated with implants, especially if you have lost a lot of bone since the time when your teeth were removed, but I’ll try to summarise your options.
The cost of treatment can vary from dentist to dentist and is often based on the quality of the treatment, the experience of the dentist, the aesthetic demands of your individual case
, the type of treatmemt , the level of craftsmanship from the dental techincians making the dental restorations and the quality of the implant components
I will quote you approximate fees in my own practice in Harley Street
Your choices are as follows:
1. a bridge from the 3rd tooth on either side to the other one (6 teeth on a bridge) approx £4000-6000
2. 2 implants and a bridge to replace 4 teeth approx £8000-12000
3. 4 implants and 4 crowns approx £10000-16000
Note that bone grafting might be needed and so the fees may vary but this is very approximate for extremely high quality work with either myself or our Prosthodontic specialist
I hope that helps
Mark
