7 months ago I had a dental crown placed on an implant

Q. 7 months ago I had a dental crown placed on an implant and now it is loose. I went to my peridontist and was told that the abutment screw was loose and needed to be tightened. He also told me that the crown would be drilled into to reach the screw. I just finished paying for the crown. I am wondering if there is anything that can be done to save it. I also would like to know what can do to prevent this from happening over again.

A. Hi This is a common problem with implants. If the crown is drilled through with a small hole and tightened down it will still be ok. Ideally the crown could be cemented with a weak cement then tapped off to gain access to the screw to allow future tightening.
