Why has my bridge turned grey?

Q.

I have a 5 teeth porcelain bridge that is turning grey every month even after being polished. I have had this in with temp cement for approx 9 months as I wasn’t 100 percent happy with teeth. Why is the colour going grey? I also had my upper frenum shortened 1 year ago as it was pulled to one side but not under my teeth I thought this was best to rectify but did now know that it is a tissue that holds the top lip down. I was horrified after procedure to find my top lip felt loose and moves about when I talk. I had to have more porcelain added to my teeth to give my lip support. Can this frenum be replaced again or will my top lip begin to droop? I would like to have implants buts could never afford to have this treatment. My worst fear is I will loose my bridges and have to have false plate which I could not cope with.

Hi ,
With regards to the frenum – trying to reattach it will likely just cause more scar tissue as if it was done properly he first time they would have altered the attachment fibres.

With regards to the colour of the bridge, if it was satisfactory initially they are all glazed to give colour stability. It is likely that you have had it polished with a substance that is too abrasive or conversely used a smokers or whitening toothpaste which is causing the colour change.

The only solution is to change the bridge I’m afraid.

The lip moving should not be a major issue just feel different as many people do not have a frenum attachment.

With or without the frenum as time goes on and you lose elasticity in the tissues your top lip will droop.

I have a big diastema and i have just started invisalign treatment for closing it. I will probably need a frenectomy..When is the best moment to do it and what will be the cost of a laser frenectomy ? And maybe you could tell me where I could do this surgery in london. Thank you!
