I Am 17 Years Old And I Am Tongue Tied. If I Have A Frenectomy Will There Be A Chance My Speech Will Get Worse?

Thursday, May 29th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I wonder if you can help me. I am 17 years old, my problem is not with teeth but with my tongue so please help me if possible.
I have Ankyloglossia – tongue tie and it creates a lot of problems while speaking. This is because the frenum limits the movement of my tongue. So I am considering undergoing a frenectomy.
Do you know of any cases where the speech has deteriorated or worsened after a frenectomy? That’s the only thing I am worried about. I don’t want my speech to be further worsened.
Thank you for your reply in advance.

Thursday, March 15th, 2012
Q.

Well I had a piece of muscle tissue in my mouth that cause a gap between my teeth. I have braces and the two front teeth closed, but it hurt. I went to my dentist appointment and he told me he had to remove that piece of tissue. So today i went and had my laser oral surgery, and afterwards the pain was too much. when will the pain go away and when will it heal because i’m in too much pain and i’m confused plus it hurts to bad?

Why has my bridge turned grey?

Friday, February 17th, 2012
Q.

I have a 5 teeth porcelain bridge that is turning grey every month even after being polished. I have had this in with temp cement for approx 9 months as I wasn’t 100 percent happy with teeth. Why is the colour going grey? I also had my upper frenum shortened 1 year ago as it was pulled to one side but not under my teeth I thought this was best to rectify but did now know that it is a tissue that holds the top lip down. I was horrified after procedure to find my top lip felt loose and moves about when I talk. I had to have more porcelain added to my teeth to give my lip support. Can this frenum be replaced again or will my top lip begin to droop? I would like to have implants buts could never afford to have this treatment. My worst fear is I will loose my bridges and have to have false plate which I could not cope with.
