What is the normal life span of a crown?

Q. I had a gold cap fitted 11 years ago, purley for fashion purpose. I’ve now been told the cap is no longer fitting my tooth, meaning food is getting underneath and it will need to be removed. I do not want another gold cap fitted in it’s place, but I’m scared if I get the white type ones it won’t look like my real tooth and it’s at the front. How long do these other types of caps/crowns last for, will it look blantantly different from my current teeth and will the same thing happen again?,
A. 10 years is about the right amount of time for a crown to last. I’m sure it will look ok if you use a good quality dentist and laboratory, definitely more natural than a gold one!!
