I Have An Impacted Tooth Which Hurts The Tooth Below It. Will Braces Fix This For Me?

Friday, December 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi there,
I have a tooth growing on top of another tooth (2nd premolar). I would like to know if I would need braces to fix this. I have been searching online and have seen that most people who share my problem with their teeth have needed and been given braces. They have said it was because of the growing tooth needing to grow down straight after the already present tooth was removed, so that none of the other teeth would move. I am not sure whether the growing tooth is growing in the right position, but it appears as though it is growing but sticking out of line from the rest of the teeth. I also cannot chew properly on that side (left) of my mouth, because of my tooth pushing against the one that is growing which hurts a lot. I also would like to know how the gaps in my teeth and my two bottom central twisted incisors could also be fixed (if possible), as other people always point them out to me which effects my confidence a lot.

Thanks a lot!

My Overall Dental Health Is Poor And I Would Like To Know If I Can Get Free NHS Treatment?

hello im 18 and i’ve had trouble with my teeth for 12 years now i’ve had many teeth taken out when i was young now my teeth are turning, i have a gap in the middle of my two top teeth and and holes in my molars that have been fillled in many times. Despite this though it all just sinks back in the teeth and consequently i have developed a lisp and get major headaches as my jaw is out of place by half a centimeter. It’s all quite distressing and I need to get it sorted out because it’s destroying my confidence and I can’t stand having pain and awkwardness all of the time. Basically I was wondering whether you know if I could get dentures free from the NHS?

If I have teeth taken out for orthodontic work will this change the shape of my face?

One of my upper front tooth is turned out and I was told I should remove my 2 upper bicuspids for braces. Ive seen someone who had this done and she had the appearance of a pushed in/smushed look. I was also told I have beautiful big teeth and when they become straight with braces, it will seem I have too much teeth for my mouth/jaw. I also have a strained look when I try to close my mouth or touch my lips together. I figured it was because of my turned out tooth but Ortho said it doesnt have anything to do with it. I dont want to change my profile or my smile, I just want straight teeth. Ortho said because I have big, beautiful teeth, it will only look fuller/bigger once they are straightened so I was told they can put the braces on and I can decide later when my teeth are straighter to pull them out if it does seem to be too much teeth. My question is, if I do decide to pull out the fangs after my teeth are straight, how much longer will I need to continue wearing the braces to close the gaps? How much of my smile/profile will change? Can the Dr decide how much to push it back or is it all or nothing once they are out? I hear a lot of people saying they regret pulling teeth out because it changes their smile/profile and they are unhappy with it.
