Hello Dr Gambroudes, I have a question for you which I hope you can help me with. Is it illegal full stop to do teeth whitening if you are not trained in dental even if the product is safe and legal and being administered by the client and they have read and agree with and have given signed consent? I have been hearing a lot of things that a non-dentist can perform teeth whitening treatments as long as the peroxide level is 0.1% or below, active or released. Your advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

Is it legal to whiten teeth without qualifications?

Hi there,

I am very confiused about all of they hype surrounding teeth whitening!
I want to open my own mobile business offering this service however i want to stay within the law.
FUS beauty school are offering training with a product called b-zero that claims to be 100%peroxide and chlorine dioxide free products. Is it legal for me to whiten peoples teeth if this is the case!
Do you need to be a registered dentist to perform teeth whitening?
I am feeling very confused about it all!

Any advice would be much appreciated?

I have been approached by a company offering in-home laser teeth whitening. Safe to do it?

I was recently approached by a white smiles company who said that they could conduct laser teeth whitening safetly in my own home at the fraction of the cost it would be in a professional dentists. I have not had this done but need to ask if this can be done with my health and safety in mind? I am always skeptical of this sort of thing especially concerned about the hygeiene and the feasibility if this can be done? Also insurance wise what if anything went wrong would I be covered>?. Is this safe and legal to do procedures of this nature at a customers home? thanks,

Do I need fixed braces on the bottom teeth? I only require them for the top teeth…

Hi, I had functional braces (to move my jaw), then fixed braces and finally retainers for 2 years. wasnt totally happy with the result. I’ve also lost the retainer for my bottom teeth. Im considering adult treatment but will i need to have braces on the bottom as well as on the top? Whether I’m talking or smiling, you cannot see my bottom teeth…so why does everyone have braces on the bottom! i understand why people have functional braces on both the bottom and top, but why have fixed ones on your bottom teeth when no one seems them? also i had the fixed braces on the bottom for much longer than the top!
