I Had A Failed Bone Graft Early Last Year And My Chin Aches Constantly. What Options Should I Take?

Thursday, October 17th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. Early last year I had a bone graft to save my lower right central incisor due to bone loss. I also had some deep cleaning on all four quadrants. The graft failed unfortunately and now my mouth aches constantly in the chin area. I want to remove that tooth and do not want an implant, I want nothing to do with drilling into that so very sore area, so what other options can you suggest are available for me, besides an implant. The two teeth on either side are bending inward and pushing it further back. I hope you can help me with this as it’s causing me quite a lot of concern, many thanks.

Should I Listen To My Dentist And Opt For The Adhesive Dental Bridge?

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013
Q.

Hi doctor Butt, I had to have front crown removed after 13years because of fracture. My dentist has offered a sticky bridge on nhs or 600pounds private. It is the tooth right next to front tooth, i’ve always took care of my teeth and dentist said I have good oral hygiene, could you tell me if nhs bridge is ok. Should I save for private, is there a big difference in appearance. Will I be able to see the metal on nhs at the back of tooth, and will my Eye tooth which will be filed down, be very badly damaged. I have had tooth out now for over2months and have a temporary plate with tooth on, and I am not coping very well with it, in fact I’ve lost 10lbs because I am feeling sick all the time with this thing in my mouth and I have stopped eating out in restaurants as I don’t enjoy my food with it in.I’m 59 years oldThank you

Would it be possible to have dentures on mini implants?

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012
Q.

I may need a denture, I have a broken bridge. I would like, if affordable, to have dentures on mini implants. Is this feasable? Why do some dentists not recommend it. I do not like the idea of having to take teeth out overnight. I just wonder why most dentists don’t do mini implants and it will take up to 8 months to complete the procedure for a denture on normal implants. My bridge is on 1 Implant and a tooth a tooth half way between was removed and the bridge replaced temporarily in 2006. My dentist then retired and I have been left with this broken bridge since then. I have missting teeth either side and have been recommended dentures on implants but I have been told they would need to be removed at night. The dentist said that mini implants are not recommended.

Could a bridge be a good alternative to braces to treatment my impacted adult teeth?

Friday, March 23rd, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I have 2 baby teeth where my adult canine teeth should be. The adult teeth are impacted up very high. They are actually perfectly placed and not anywhere touching any nerves or disrupting any bones. I was told the best option would be to have my baby teeth extracted and have braces put on my whole mouth as well as drill up into my mouth and slowly bring my adult teeth into their proper place. I know this is the best option for me to keep my given teeth. However, I was wondering if putting in a bridge would be another available option. I do not have a lot of money or any dental insurance so this is a very costly method and I know bridges are a lot cheaper. I’m also 28 years old and I would really not like to have braces for the next 3 years of my life. My childhood/adolescent dentist swore i would never need them, which is why I am just now finding this out. I’m not sure implants would be an option because I’m not sure there is enough bone from the baby teeth. I would just like some advice on getting a bridge in place of a canine or any other cost effective options. Thank you!

What is the youngest age that somebody should have implant surgery?

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
What is the youngest age you would perform an implant on? My daughter is 15 and had to have her front upper tooth removed, we are in the process of having an implant but have just been advised by another dentist that she could still be growing and the implant would be looking shorter than the other teeth by the time she is an adult.,

Are there any alternatives to adhesive bridges?

Friday, July 16th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I am shortly to have both my first lower molars extracted. Both were root canaled. I am chemically very sensitive and couldn’t tolerate them and became seriously ill. All my other teeth are totally sound just one small filling on upper R7. My bite is very even throughout my mouth. As the teeth on either side of the extraction sites are not filled and are sound my dentist is understandably reluctant to carve them down to place a fixed bridge. Due to my health implants are just not an option. My dentist is suggesting two adhesive bridges. I am worried as I don’t think this type of bridge would be strong enough in that position of my mouth and wouldn’t be able to support the forces of biting and chewing. Also I am worried that the pre-molars would be damaged by the strain of trying to take the weight of the missing first lower molars. Are there any othe options?,

What treatments can I get through the NHS in regards to my particular case?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I just got back from the dentist who has checked my two front teeth which were very wobbly but still in place. They were put back in when i lost them as a teenager but they recently became loose again. After doing the X-Rays, she has told me that the crowns have come away from the roots. She did explain some of the options available to me but she spoke very fast! Implants were one option but they seem really expensive and I’m not really in a position to be able to afford them. The other option she gave me was getting a bridge but suggested that the ‘adhesive’ option wouldn’t be available due to my second teeth being too small which is what is available on the NHS. I’m still not convinced by that. Perhaps just cynicism around dental fvees, (no offence) I don’t know. I’m now struggling to locate exactly what i can get on the NHS and what i would be able to afford. Any information would be useful,
