Options to replace moulded teeth?

Q. Hello Dr. Glaister. When I was younger i fell over and chipped my right front tooth, this was about 10 years ago and I am 18 going on 19 now. I went to a local NHS dentish and they remoulded the tooth, however they did a terrible job. The tooth isn’t as long as the real one to eht left, it’s thicker in the front and back, and the discolouring in it is so obvious even from a distance, it really makes me concious about my smile. I was wondering what could be done about it, and how much that would cost. Thank you so much,
A. Sounds like you need a veneer. There are two different types, one being a composite veneer which is the cheaper option – around £400 – £500 or the second option is for a porcelain veneer – around £800 – £1000. The second option is a much stronger and longer lasting option that doesn’t stain where the composite veneer will pick up stain over time. Being that you are interested in the aesthetics, i would advise that you see a private dentist for this. You may want to look at some examples that he/she has done in the past, so you will be confident in their work.
