My Teeth Were Weakened By Braces When I Was Young. Is There Any Chance I Would Be Entitled To NHS Implants?

Q.
I am 27 and when I was a child I had fixed braces and because they were left on for too long they made my teeth week and when I had to get them removed as half the front enamel came off. Since then going into adult life has been an uphill struggle, I now only have 6 teeth left in my mouth and am forced to wear a denture which I find really hurting. I can’t even wear my bottle one as its too painful with this information would I be entitled to free dental implants on the NHS. Having no teeth really hurts and I wish I could do more but I feel at times I don’t want to smile cause I know my teeth are gone and I don’t have the confidence I once had. I’d really like your advice.

Hello and thank you for your question. Sadly I don’t think you would qualify for dental implants on the NHS, however each region has different guidelines on this and it may be worth pursuing with your own dentist. It is a real shame you can’t get on with your dentures, because these can offer a really good alternative to implants if finance is an issue. Perhaps it might be worth you visiting a Clinical Dental Technician to discuss your options. Changing Faces Denture Clinics (www.changingfacesdentures.co.uk) are located throughout the UK and offer a free consultation. You may want to consider one of our payment plans to spread the cost. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards, Marcus Gambroudes.
