My daughter has no problem in chewing or speaking but she is recommended for jaw surgery advice

Q. Hello I have just returned from a visit with my daughter to her Orthodontist and am quite shocked at his recommendation of her having her lower jaw realigned with surgery. After having had X-Rays and moulds done we thought having a few teeth out and a brace fitted for a few years will sort out her slightly crooked teeth. She doesnt have any problems chewing or speaking I took her purely because a tooth that sticks out worries her (shes nearly 15). In you opinion is this treatment really necessary? It all sounds rather painful and drastic. Many Thanks.

A. I’m sorry but I can’t make a decision with just this information, you will have to go with your orthodontists recommendation or maybe seek a second consultation from another orthodontist.
