My 14 Year Old Daughter’s Teeth Are Ruined From Medication, Would She Be Eligible For Veneers On The NHS?

Q.
Hi Dr Moore, I’d like advice on what to do with my daughter has been on medication since she was born the medicine has made her teeth rot and she is now 14 years old and hasn’t got any confidence, she doesn’t go out and doesn’t want to go to school. Would it be possible to get her veneers on the NHS? The medication she is on is sodium picosulphate and movicol and in the past she has been on lactulose and various other medicines. It is very embarrassing for her she got no friends because she won’t mix with anyone. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Hello I’m sorry to her of your daughters problems. It might be possible to use resin based veneers with a view to porcelain veneers when she’s older. If you have a teaching hospital close by you could ask your dentist for a referral as it sounds like she might need specialist treatment. I’d advise her to find a local clinic that offers free consultations, find out exactly the right treatments she needs. Thank you, I hope this helps. Dr Andrew Moore.
