ive been wearing braces since I was 17

Q. Hi, I’m 19 and have been wearing braces since i was 17.i used to have overbite over 5mm before wearing braces and it has reduced to 5mm. My orthodontist recommended me to wear the head gear, which i did but not for 12 hrs everyday as required. I didn’t wear it continuously because i was always out of home everyday, and only able to wear it few hours during sleep. I’ve stopped wearing the head gear for a few months now, and wish not to wear it again. My teeth are now straight but i still have the overbite. I’m not regretting because of not wearing the head gear, as it was very uncomfortable, but it is better the wear invisalign which i wish to wear. Is it possible for me to wear invisalign once my braces are removed?

A. Invisalign won’t make any difference if you have a skeletal discrepency. This is normally the case when you have to wear head gear. The only options available to you are orthognatic surgery, where the jaw is broken and reset, not vey pleasent, you may not be suitable for head gear anymore because it needs to be worn when you are growing. The other option is to live with the overjet. You could go to the orthodontist again and see if the braces could be applied again
Kind regards
