I’m 19 And I Have A Gap Between My Teeth. What Treatment Can Fix This And Will I Need A Frenectomy?

Q.
Hi Mark. I’m 19 years old and I’ve got gaps in my top teeth, especially between my 2 middle teeth, which is about 0.5cm wide. I think this is caused by my low maxillary labial fraenum, which is making the gap wider with time. This is really embarrassing for me and it affects my confidence. What kind of treatment do I need and what would be the estimated cost? Also, would I need to get a frenectomy afterwards?
Thank you for taking the time to advise me on this matter.

Hi. There are several possibilities for your treatment:

1.Orthodontics (with or without a frenectomy)
2.Veneers
3.Bonding
3.Crowns
4. Or, a combination of some or all of the above. It’s impossible to know exactly what would be best without a thorough examination in person and a consultation to discuss all your available options (with X-rays/photos/ maybe even study models).

The frenectomy if indicated usually happens before treatment begins so I’d advise that you see an experienced cosmetic dentist and/or orthodontist. Kind regards, Mark.

I am a senior who recently had my top teeth removed, I always had a slight gap between my 2 front teeth, will I need a frenectomy before impressions are made for dentures?
