I pulled and my baby tooth. The new tooth had stopped growing and the tooth’s turned black. Do I have tooth rot?

Q. At 15, I still had a few baby teeth left, one was loose, and so I pulled it out, which I know was a bad idea, but it was annoying. The whole tooth came out, and a new one grew in it’s place, however, the growth has stopped just above gum level. Over the last 2 years, the tooth appears to have turned black, and when I press my finger to the gum, I’ve noticed it smells, but it does not affect my breath at all. I mentioned it to my dentist once, but she said she would keep an eye on it, and it was nothing to worry about. My dentist hasn’t mentioned anything about it since, and I suffer none of the pain regarded with tooth rot.,
A. I would need to take a look before advising, it sounds like it could be a piece of remaining root rather than a new tooth trying to errupt. If your getting a bad taste or smell i would advise your dentist takes another look just to rule out any infection.
