I Have Severe Tongue Thrusting Habits That I Can’t Control, Please Help!

Q.
hi
i have lots of gaps and spaces in my teeth and they are oushed forward and i cant stand them.
i have had braces before when i was 14 they were fixed metal braces but i never finised the treatment as i lost my retainers.

i have tried my hardest not to suck my tongue to the point i get jaw ache in the morning. But i have since relapsed and my teeth have been pushed out even further.

i suck my tongue and i cannot stop. i have looked into this and i have seen there might be some sort tongue retainer i could use to train my tongue to stop pushing my teeth forward subconciously.

please would you be able to recommend treatment for me as i want braces but do not want to do braces first without trying to treat my problem first.

hope you can help

Tongue thrusting habits can be almost impossible to stop in adults but with excellent orthodontic care and excellent long term retention there is no reason that you could not have well maintained straight teeth for life. My advice is to see an experienced specialist orthodontist who treats adults a lot.

Kind regards
