I Have Broken My Tooth And The Edge To It Is Really Sharp. Should I Go To The Hospital Or My Dentist?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I need to see a dentist as I have broken a tooth and the sharp edge is cutting into my tongue making it painful whenever I eat. It’s a constant throbbing now and has stopped me from eating. Just sitting here hurts. It feels like a knife. Is it worth going to the hospital for this type of problem? I’m a bit scared of going to the dentist after previous bad experiences. What should I do? I look forward to your reply. Thank you in advance.

Hello and thank you for contacting me. With anything problems relating to teeth and gums you should first look to your dentist. A hospital will only send you to a dentist so it would be a waste of your time and the hospitals. Veneers, cosmetic bonding, and crowns could possibly fix this for you. I would need to see you in person, so it’s best to visit a dentist for a consultation to go through your options. Please do this ASAP. If you require further information on these treatments, you can find it through the guides on this website. Best wishes, Dr Andrew Moore.
