Could You Tell Me The Best Method For Stripping The Teeth, I’m Getting Invisalign And I Would Like To Know Which Way Is Safest?

Q.
Hi Dr Hughes. Could you tell me which method is better for teeth stripping, using a dental drill or having it done by hand with a diamond abrasive strip attached to a small piece of sheet metal? The same amount of enamel is to be stripped off my teeth, but I would like to know specifically which method will yield better results? I am trying to decide on an orthodontist to work on my teeth. I will be getting the Invisalign treatment. I look forward to your reply, thank you for your time.

Hi, thank you for your question. Sometimes it’s best to do both! I often do. What’s really crucial is how much care and attention to detail the dentist/orthodontist will put into the tooth reduction, not so much the method employed. Experience is also important.

Ask them to show you examples or to demonstrate how they do it maybe and if they have successful cases to show you? I hope that helps to clarify the matter for you. Kind regards, Mark.
