I have top and bottom full set of dentures two years ago but now they have become loose and getting very awkward especially eating amoung people.I either need my dentures relining or a really good set of dentures that are well fixed to my gum.I have been to see my dentist and was not pleased with the direction he told me to take. He suggested implants which is fair enough but you look at the cost of them and consider that I am a pensioner and just don’t have the money. Sorry to rant a little there but I want alternatives. Don’y advise me om implant, just can’t afford it.Give me your best advice.When I eat some food would get under the top denture ,then I’m unable to carry on eating which is very frustrating. Also I have trouble with speech as well sound funny and around my mouth it appear to be sagging.

Friday, March 8th, 2013 Hi. I am on a private treatment to traighten my teeth by braces (1yr braces 1yr removable retainers) and it has cost me £1700. My teeth are starting to traighten Howevr i am really worried about my long front two teeth. Is possible if i can have them shortened by my orthodontist without paying extra money as i am already on a private treatment? Like the work that is being done is great so far but obviously it is exspensive.Not that I am complaining at all, I understand that dental care is tricky and it is difficult to find good quality treatmetn. I havent talked to my orthodontist
about it because i want get more professional advice before I bring it up so that I can be a little more prepared to debate it as I am unsure currently and im worried he might say no and make something up so he can get rid of me. Please advice. Thank you

There seem to be lots of different opinions on the career and I am getting confused because of the opinions I am getting from people. At the moment I am studying GCSE’s for my sixth form however I am really confused as a child I’ve always wanted to go in IT work but now I have a lot of family members telling me to go into dental work but to be honest I am not too sure if I should be come one or not. I say this as my Maths isn’t very good but my Science is pretty strong and I enjoy it a lot especially biology and I like the idea of surgery and fixing things. So really I think that I do want to become one but I am not to sure on what to do or even think about. You are one so I thought you would give good advice. Please help me I need to talk to someone that they know what they are talking about.

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013how much does it costs to fill the gap between my front teeth? its just a natural gap. i hate it! its becoming more wide as time goes by.. please do help! it used to be a small tiny space between now its become bigger! can there be anything i can do to fix it. like what sort of treatment is about for this situation? i have thought about stuff but am not up to date with procedures. also about braces, what are they mainly used for? can they help? i would like it if you can make recommendations because i now find it difficult to smile because i hate the gap. my two front are really nice but just without the gap! if i do use braces will i have to use them forever? this would cause me quite a lot of stress and i would rather avoid it do you know is there any permanent solution?
As I have aged, I have suffered from painful clusters of mouth ulcers, what could be the cause of this?
Thursday, February 14th, 2013Hello Doctor Patel, I’m 22 and I think that I might have a dental condition that I hope you can fix. Ever since I can remember I have suffered from mouth ulcers. When I was younger I didn’t used to get that many, maybe once every 4-5 months. But as I have gotten older, they have got worse. Once I get one, Its like they spread and I get at least another 4 around the area. They are incredibly painful and they take around 3-4 weeks to heal. I get around 3 weeks without one and then they come back. It’s so annoying and they’re so painful. Do you think there is anything that could be done to fix this, My teeth seem in good health to me but I’m sure there must be something else going on. Thank you.
The roots of my incisors are crooked and cause pain, how likely are they to fall out?
Thursday, February 14th, 2013Hello, I went to the orthodontist 2 weeks ago and he took x-rays of my teeth as my two front central incisors cause pain when biting an apple or when any force is applied to them when chewing etc. The x-ray showed that the roots on these teeth are curved as appose to pointed and they are half the length of the roots of my lateral incisors. I also have a 7mm overbite. He phoned me up and i have a choice whether to get braces or not. Apparently there is a risk of these teeth falling out if i get braces but i do not like the look of the as the two central incisors overlap. My parents tell me that it’s not obvious but i am extremely conscious of it. I would really appreciate any statistics of the chance of them falling out etc and a second opinion as i have no idea what the repercussions could be.

I would like to know the best method and cheapest way to fix my teeth. My two front teeth are overlapping badly, and this is causing overcrowding in my mouth. My teeth are not straight , some are crooked on my top row of teeth because of this overcrowding. Some of my teeth are slightly eroded on the bottom row due to acid erosion. My teeth are not aligned so there is discomfort when I bite and I also have some discolouring. I do not want to damage my teeth as they are at present fairly healthy but I want my teeth to be straight and the damage sorted out/ covered up. I was wondering which is the best course of treatment? How long does it last, and finally what would be the total cost of the treatments?

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013Hello Dr. Patel, I am 20 years old and receiving income based job seekers allowance . If I was to get invisible braces, how much would that cost? I’ve had braces before when I was at school and they were free of charge. However, my wisdom teeth have come out and I’ve been told from my dentist that I’ll have to have them removed due to not enough room. So therefore, because of my wisdom teeth growing, they’ve pushed the rest of my teeth slight forward, so I’m thinking of getting braces again so I can have straight teeth. I have a yellow line down each front tooth and have had them for a while, I have tried everything to get rid of them. using all of the over the counter whitening treatments, but nothing removes them, they seem to be under the enamel,would laser get rid of them if not what would you surgest.one dentist said to have enamal removed teeth cleaned and re enamald costing £600 !! I just couldn’t afford that kind of money any advice you could offer me would be greatly appreciated. Tuesday, January 15th, 2013Hi Dr Patel, I am 26 yrs of age, I am looking for a little advice here it goes….My appearance was always very important to me until 2 yrs ago when I was attacked twice by an ex partner leaving me with damage to my jaw and teeth since the incident I have been told I will lose my own teeth as nerves were damaged it has got to the point that I am wishing they would fall out even if I am supplied with standard nhs ‘false teeth’ as my own now look dreadful. There is no possible way I could afford cosmetic dental work so I was wondering if there is any dentists that offer work done in exchange for before and after advertisement pictures.
