Q.
Hi My Crown fell off my front tooth and when I went to the dentist he said I would have to have the root removed as it has split but that I would have to wear a Denture for 6 months before he could put a fixed crown back there no other way of having this done as I cant imagine having to wear a denture, he has fixed the crown back on for now M

Can i have teeth whitening on my dental bridge

Sunday, March 9th, 2008
Q.
Hey, I lost my front tooth about a year back and my dentist put in a bridge. I now want my teeth whitened, but if i do so my fake tooth will still be dull. Any ideas on how to get round this?? Thanks, R

Dear R,

The only way following whitening your teeth would be to have your old bridge replaced to to match`the new whiter colour. Veneering the existing bridge with whiter porcelain veneers is a possibility but generally the end result would not be as good as replacing the bridge.

If i have a bridge on 3 implants will the new teeth need to be thicker than my own?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008
Q.
I have 6 missing front teeth. If I have 3 implants and then a bridge for the 6 teeth will the new teeth be the same thickness as my real teeth or will they have to be thicker to make the bridge strong enough.

i have a cracked tooth after a filling do I need an implant?

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008
Q.
I had a filling replaced on the advice of my dentist. When the filling was drilled out she told me my tooth had cracked in the median plane (lower molar I think number 2- it’s the one that my brace was attached to) the tooth is now causing me real pain – the dentist says it has now partly cracked from the gum side and is infected – the only option is extraction and tooth implant. Is there any other option available – £2000 for something that stemmed from a filling replacement is a bit hard to swallow? How would I seek a second opinion? Many thanks for your time – it is much appreciated, A

bone loss around front teeth bridge or implants?

Sunday, February 10th, 2008
Q.
I have had been told by the Roayl School of Dentistry in Belfast that the bone supporting my two front teeth (both crowned due to injury as a child)is wasting away. I don\’t know where to go from here as I would like to have either a bridge or implants …. probably a bridge as it would be less expensive. Would this be feasible ??
