What is the rate of completion and rop outs for invisalign?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Can you give me an indication of successful completion rates? Of the candidates who start the Invisalign treatment, what proportion will see it through to conclusion? And if there is a significant drop out rate, what are the most common reasons? I am guessing the commitment requires a radical change to one’s everyday routine and strong self-discipline?,

Has putting more cotton in tooth made infection worse?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
i had a root canal done a long time ago. It later became infected and had to be cleaned out. The dentist put some cotton in the tooth. It is infected again and i’m on ABT’s. The cotton filling just came out. I replaced it with more cotton. i figured that would be better than nothing. Did i make it worse?,

Can braces help to fix structure of mouth?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Glaister.I had braces when i was 13(5 years ago). unfortunatly i took them off with tweezers. Many times i had wore them with many brackets that pop’d out my teeth.I also never wore aligners..i’ve notice how my face change during puberty has my motuh seem’d open even when close, and how i was very unhappy how my face seemed to sink.so last 9 months i’ve recieve my invisalign express aligners, thus my orthodontist said my teeth were in good condition, i wanted to finsh what i started. now i’m on my last set of aligners, im extremly unhappy & uncomfortable how my teeth feel and how my mouth looks as if its been pushed back. My question is if i get braces again, would it push my teeth foward or as it was? is there any other appliance that will help on this matter?,

Why am I getting pain in jaw so badly?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I have had a recurring problem with my jaw over the past few years which presents itself as an inability to open my mouth very wide with some pain, with the stiffness and pain located in the top-left jaw joint. It happens very sporadically with months between attacks and no obvious cause beforehand. For some reason it has suddenly occurred but worse than usual, much worse. The left jaw joint is so painful if I try to open my mouth or even swallow, that I cannot eat anything requiring chewing because it is excruciatingly painful. Also, I cannot open my jaw very wide, as has happened before. What is new is the degree of pain when trying, it feels like I have suffered a blow to that area – a hard one! So far I have not sought treatment, nor ever had a dentist comment on anything being wrong with my bite or jaw alignment. What might be wrong and what’s the correct course to take? Thank you.,

What can be done for jaw problem?

Friday, February 5th, 2010
Q.
i have experienced ‘Jaw clicking’ for a few years, (left side) on 3 occasions after waking up, it has locked. I have never mentioned it, or discussed it with my dentist, as I have learnt to live with it.During my last check up it was noticed and they recommend a bite guard, I also need a plate (LL 5,6,7)the dentist said this could not be done until the clicking is cured,Could you confirm if this is correct? sadly i do not have much faith in them, during the check up they had a quick look with the mirror, a probe was not used, and no x-ray taken.many thanks,
