Can you tell me the advantages/disadvantages of both implants and bridges?

Q. I either require a bridge or a dental implant and do not know which one to choose, could you point out the advantages/ disadvantages of both these procedures?The tooth which needs removing is my right upper second molar many thanks helen,
A. An implant is an independent tooth that provides a stimulus to the bone reducing later shrinkage. Bridges require the adjacent teeth to be drilled down which may cause problems in the future
