Can We Move My Daughter’s Teeth Forward To Decrease Her Overriding Bottom Lip?

Q.
Hi,  my daughter is currently wearing braces and her bottom lip is overriding on to her top lip. She has braces on both her top and bottom sets of teeth. Her bottom jaw is bigger than her maxilla (this was caused by an accident when she fell onto her teeth on a step when she was two years old). Can we do something to make this less prominent by moving the teeth forward a bit? She has been wearing braces for 18 months now …

Looking forward to your answer,
Thanks.

Thanks for writing in. While I understand the emotional impact this can bring to a young girl, I’d need to see your daughter’s teeth in person before i could offer my professional advice. I believe your best course of action would be to consult your orthodontist who has been working with your daughter’s teeth. If your daughter has been wearing braces for 18 months, then your orthodontist will have an intimate knowledge of her teeth, and will be able to tell you her best options.
