Can the dentist remove the small amount of the tooth that is remaining and replace it with a false one?

Q. HI I chipped my front tooth around ten years ago. Recently i fell over and hit over half of the rest of it out. So now there is a tiny bit of tooth left which has now turned black. What are my treatment options? will the dentist be able to take out the bit of tooth that is left and put some sort of false one in? Also would i be able to have this done on NHS prices, i am 22 and working?? Many Thanks.

A. HI, It sounds as though there isn’t much left of the tooth. The tooth is now unrestorable, so the other options you ahve got to regain this tooth are as follows: 1. extraction of the remaining root and have a partial denture. 2. extraction of the remaining root and have a bridge from the side teeth. 3. A dental implant. Implants are the best ong term treatment option as it doesn’t efect any of the other teeth- and is a fixed tooth in it’s own right. Implants are generally not available on the NHS. Many practices do however, offer different payment plans. Good luck.
