Can I get free cosmetic work at dental schools?

Q.
Hey Rob

I would like to know if there is any way I could have free veneers or porcelain implants across the front of my mouth (top row of teeth) as they are all badly mishapen and crooked.

I ask because after speaking to one of my friends recently she had free veneers done by student dentists who needed people to practice on, and as I have a low income, but earn just enough NOT to be eligable for any benefits I am actually worse off than most people and would never be able to afford these types of luxurys.

I am an aspiring musicain and think that improving my smile would have a positive impact on my life and career as my teeth are the only thing that hold me back from giving people a confident smile.

please let me know if there is any help I can recieve, I would really appreciatte any help you could give.

Birmingham and Sheffield are the nearest dental schools to Nottingham were free treatment is available. The NHS would not normally become involved in cosmetic treatment unless there happened to be a cosmetic benefit to a treatment justified on functional grounds.
Hope this helps

Hi,

I hope you can give me some much needed advice.

After much research and debating, I need porcelain veneers. When I was younger my dentist talked me out of the idea as although my teeth are in ‘pretty good nick’ they look awful! Even though I have no fillings, apart from white fillings where my enamal has worn away, the colour of my teeth is horrible and the surface uneven and dicoloured.

It’s badly effecting me as I no longer feel confident to show my teeth when I smile, which doesn’t help confidence when suffering from depression.

After speaking to my dentist again recently, the price is now sky high! I cannot afford to go private, can you please offer some advice?????? I have a home whitening kit from my dentist but it only helps with the whitening aspect.

Many thanks for your time..

I would like to know if there is the posibility of a free veneers or less expensive treatment done by student dentists who will need people to practice on.

My top teeth are crokeed as butterfly style.

Would it be possible to have an implant with Bridge of approx 3 teeth attached done free
Problem being two crowns that were fitted by NHS dentist only one remains bottom right hand side and I’m told by my private dentist that root is decaying ( checked all teeth last week ) and crown can not be refitted if it comes out , last crown right next to this one also lasted 1 year due to it being ill fitted to gum and obviously particles were getting to root , so very dissapointing as for the past 40 years I have attended a dentist regularly and find myself in tears at times that I may have to have removable dentures , I can not tolerate those and have always said this to my dentist , I am now very concerned about thsi crown as its the last bottom RH – many thanks

I am a 46yr female and when have 3 front teeth missing due to having a bridge fitted about 15yrs ago. My bridge has broke so now my dentist has given me a denture which is so uncomfortable and does not fit correctly in my mouth, if i push it in place i have a big gap between the roof of my mouth and the plate of my denture. I only had this fitted 2 weeks ago and already it has pulled a back filling out with me taking it in and out of my mouth and i struggle to talk properly which is emabarrsing as i work on a reception.

Is there anywhere near me or anywhere i can go to a Dental school to get free treatment by medical students for some implants or at a fraction of the cost. I live in the lancashire area but would travel to be happy again with my teeth and smile again.

Regards

Debbie

Hi

I have become more conscious of my poor front bottom teeth, and feel extremely let down the dentist I went to as a child twice a year, I feel I should of received better advise regarding the overcrowding. I am really quite embarrassed by them
I would welcome the opirtunity to be accessed by a student dentist with a view to corrective action I am based in Manchester
