Zia The Tiger Undergoes Treatment For A Broken Tooth

Sample News Big

One of the Isle of Wight’s most popular residents, Zia the tiger, has undergone dental treatment for a broken tooth.

Zia, who is 17 years old and one of the zoo’s most iconic animals, was sedated by vet, Matt Twitchett before being taken to the operating table by truck; she needed treatment to fix a broken tooth and dentists also discovered that she had signs of a gum infection.

The operation took place yesterday morning and representatives from the Isle of Wight Zoo said that she was recovering well.

Charlotte Corney, a keeper at the zoo who has been with Zia since she was born said that she can never sleep the day before an operation as Zia is her “baby”; she bottle-fed her as a cub and she a very close relationship with the tiger. Charlotte said that she trusted Matt completely and was happy that Zia would no longer suffer any pain as a result of dental problems.

Charlotte has been talking about Zia and her operation on Isle of Wight Radio.
