Young Entrepreneur Celebrates Success With Custom Mouth Guard Business

A young entrepreneur is celebrating success after founding Titan Mouthguards, a firm, which supplies custom-made mouth guards to schools and sports clubs all over the country.

Twenty three year old, Jon Proud, set up the business when he was studying at Nottingham Trent University and used professional help from The Hive, which is located at the university, to establish the company. Jon’s aim was to create a service, which offered personalisation and his custom-fit, branded mouth guards have proved to be hugely popular.

Titan Mouthguards now supplies more than fifty per cent of the UK’s independent schools with guards emblazoned with the school crest and last year, the young businessman secured a lucrative contract with Leicester Tigers to place the famous ‘Tigerguard’ brand on the gum shields.

Jon came up with the business plan after chatting to his uncle, who is a dental technician; he plays hockey and therefore regularly wears a gum shield and decided that there was a gap in the market for personalised, tailor-made products.

Jon is still based at The Hive and the business is growing fast. As well as visiting schools, Jon also sells direct to the public through a website and has white label contracts, similar to the one held with Leicester Tigers.
