A dental practice in Wrexham has made history at the Dentistry Awards 2021.

Ruabon Road Dental Practice became the first clinic in North Wales to be nominated as a finalist at the awards. Since the ceremony launched ten years ago, there has never been a finalist from the region.

The biggest event of the awards calendar, the Dentistry Awards, took place in Leicester recently, with more than 500 dental professionals and support staff in attendance.

The event was co-hosted by Internet sensation, ‘The Singing Dentist,’ Dr Milood Shadrooh. This year’s ceremony was particularly emotional and poignant due to the pandemic and the impact it has had on dental teams up and down the country.

Ruabon Road Dental Practice was highly commended in the fiercely competitive categories, Best Patient Care and Best Dental Team.

Dan Naylor, clinical director at the practice, said that it was a proud moment to be “flying the flag for North Wales” and an honour to be named among large chains and private city clinics as an independent NHS practice. This year, Dan added, has been incredibly tough for the profession.

The awards recognise the amazing efforts of dental workers and highlight the importance of their jobs, particularly during difficult times when practices have had to adapt rapidly to new conditions and regulations.

Dan said that the whole team has gone “above and beyond” to try to minimise disruption and keep patients safe and everyone stepped up in the “face of real adversity.”

The awards are testament to the dedication of the staff and have now taken centre stage in reception. The practice has also been “flooded” with messages of support and gratitude since the award winners were announced.
