Health bosses in Lancashire have confirmed that work on a new health and dental centre in Buckshaw Village will soon get underway.

The plans to create a new health centre in the area were approved last week and health bosses have suggested work will start as soon as possible.

Buckshaw Village Surgery will house a GP surgery, an NHS dental practice and other health services, including social and community care. Dr Muttucumaru, who currently has a GP surgery at Buckshaw Retirement Village, is looking forward to moving to the new centre, which he said will enable professionals and patients to benefit from state of the art facilities.

When building work is complete, the centre will serve around 10,000 patients in the local area. Chorley MP, Lindsay Hoyle, said that she was “delighted” that the plans for the health centre had been approved and added that the facilities and services will make a huge difference to people living in the local area, by making health and dental care more accessible.

Colette Crowther, senior operating officer at NHS Central Lancashire, said that members of staff at the trust are looking forward to the opening of the new surgery, which will provide first class healthcare for people on their doorstep. The building work is being carried out by Eric Wright Construction, which is a local firm.
