Work is set to begin on a brand new state of the art health and dental centre in South Kirkby.

The project has been given the green light after RBS Healthcare agreed to fund the £6.5 million project. The project will be managed by Community Ventures South Kirkby.

The centre is due to open in 2013 and will boast 2 GP surgeries, a dental surgery, a pharmacy, district nurse services and a retail unit. Existing GP practices, Dr Chandy and Partners and Drs Diggle and Okine will relocate to the centre once building is complete.

Dean Spencer, development director at Community Ventures, said that the project is very exciting and a major contract for the firm. The project will involve working with a number of different parties including local NHS services, GP practices, RBS Healthcare and Miller Construction.

Mike Coster, business development director at RBS Healthcare, said that the bank has worked in close partnership with Community Ventures for the last two years to ensure the success of the project and everyone is looking forward to the new health centre opening next year.
