The team from Worcestershire Community Dental Services is celebrating after scooping an international award.

The service, which is run by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, has been awarded first prize in the Dental Surgery category at the Royal College of Surgeons conference in Chennai, India.

The community dental service provides specialist care for children and adults who need additional treatment and services that are not available from high street dental practices. This includes patients with physical disabilities, as well as those with sensory impairments and additional medical and emotional needs.

Laura Rollings, a dental officer at the service, collected the award on behalf of the team and said that she was “thrilled” to win the prize and to have the opportunity to present at the conference. She gave a presentation about the work of the community service to an audience of international dental professionals.

The team was recognised for safeguarding and providing first-class care for vulnerable patients and ensuring their “dental needs are met.”
