A Worcester dental centre that specialises in providing care for patients with complex needs has reopened following a £2 million revamp.

Moor Street Clinic has opened its doors to patients again after undergoing work to modernise and upgrade the facilities. The clinic now has two new dental consultation rooms, which are kitted out with the latest equipment, including hoists and adjustable chairs. The centre is fully accessible for patients with impaired mobility and wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

The upgrade was funded by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust as part of a £2 million investment to improve the facilities used by Worcestershire Community Dental Services. The service, which is available for patients of all ages who have additional or complex medical needs, is run by consultants. The centre plays an integral role in providing access to dental care for patients who find going to a general dental practice difficult.

Clinic service manager at Worcestershire Community Dental Service, Tracy Furlow, said that everyone on the team is “very pleased” that the NHS has invested in the centre, which now provides “excellent clinical facilities for patients and staff” in a “prime city centre location.”

Clinical director, Dr Claire Castle-Burrows, described the clinic as “fit-for-the-future” and said that it forms the “cornerstone of our county-wide consultant-led service.”

Patients and staff now have access to modern, spacious treatment suites, which are equipped with the latest technology and modifications to create accessible, comfortable, relaxing, functional spaces.

The service provides dental care for adults and children with additional or complex needs, vulnerable groups and patients with learning disabilities, dental anxiety and behavioural conditions.
