Woman faces huge dental bill after finding a stone in her sandwich

A woman has been forced to spend £3,000 on dental treatment after she bit into a stone while eating a sandwich.

Karen Addy, a mother of two from West Yorkshire, was shocked to discover a pebble in amongst the salad leaves in her organic vegetable sandwich. Ms Addy had bought the sandwich from Boots.

It has taken three years for the sandwich company, Fresh Naturally Organic, to compensate Ms Addy and she has undergone extensive dental treatment amounting to three thousand pounds in the meantime. The pebble damaged one tooth severely and contributed to the formation of an abscess, which caused Karen Addy a great deal of pain and discomfort. Ms Addy had the damaged tooth extracted and then needed further treatment, including a bone graft to allow her to have a dental implant fitted to replace the gap.

Following the treatment, Ms Addy said she was delighted to be able to eat her favourite foods again and relieved that the whole ordeal was over. The financial compensation awarded to Ms Addy covered the cost of the dental treatment but it took a long time in coming and the last three years have been very stressful.
