Whiter teeth ‘most sought-after cosmetic dentistry treatment’
Tooth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure, it has been claimed.
US news source the Sun Journal cites figures from author Jonathan B Levine which predict the whitening product and services market will be worth $15 billion (£7.7 billion) by 2010.
"I was standing between my two kids and my smile looked so grey compared to theirs," explained cosmetic dental patient Deborah Merry. "I tried to tell myself it was the camera but eventually I faced reality."
Ms Merry told the publication that the treatment took just over an hour but that she could not eat or drink anything staining for three days afterwards.
There were no side effects after the treatment, she added, claiming that her new teeth look "amazing".
Her cosmetic dentist Dr Gary Kodish said teeth whitening is definitely the most popular procedure, with its profile recently increased by makeover shows on television.
US news channel WQTV-TV recently reported that there is an emerging trend of teenagers seeking whitening treatments.Join this Discussion
