Wearside Dental Nurse All Smiles After Securing University Dental Place
A dental nurse from Wearside is all smiles after securing a place to study dentistry at university.
Dental nurse Laura Maddison, Sunderland, has decided to take her career to a new level and she will now study dentistry at Newcastle University. Laura, 23, currently works at Newcastle’s Dental Hospital and decided to start studying dentistry after she excelled at East Durham College on an Access to Higher Education course. Since September, Laura’s commitment to the course and hard work have impressed and she has now been offered the chance to study dentistry at the University of Newcastle.
The course is aimed at students of 19 years or over who want to return to education and Laura said it has given her the perfect platform to build her skills and develop her confidence, ready for the next challenge. Laura has been studying part-time and attends college three nights a week in addition to her work as a dental nurse, and she is now excited to start her new course in September.
Laura said that being a dental nurse ever since she left school has inspired her to take the next step up the career ladder and qualify as a dentist.
