A dental practice in Warwick has launched a brand new oral health scheme aimed at improving standards of oral health among children in the local area.

A & H Dental is encouraging local schools and nurseries to get involved in the programme, which will be run by dental nurses and qualified oral health educators Annie Davidson and Ana Tout. As part of the scheme, nurseries and schools will be able to book free sessions at the practice and this will enable children to learn about what happens when you go to the dentist, why it is important and how they can look after their teeth and gums.

The programme will not only enable children to get used to the sights and sounds of the dental surgery, it will also give them the opportunity to learn about why it is important to take good care of their mouths and what they can expect when they go to the dentist for a check-up.

As well as receiving a tour of the surgery and taking part in informative and interactive activities run by the dental nurses, the children will also be given a goodie bag containing items to help them to look after their teeth at home.

Adam Precelton, principal dentist, said that it’s incredibly important to get kids involved in oral health at a young age and the new scheme has already attracted a lot of attention in the local area. The two nurses in charge are very passionate about the programme and more than 200 children have already been signed up.
