A woman from Wallasey has travelled to Turkey after dentists in the UK quoted thousands of pounds for treatment.

Sally Murphy decided to go to Turkey to get treatment after seeing private dentists in the UK, who quoted £19,000 to fix her teeth. Sally had a bridge fitted when she was in her 20s and during the pandemic, she started to experience problems. Her enamel was worn and damaged and she lost a tooth. She tried to make an appointment with her dentist but found that she had been taken off the practice list.

Sally tried to find another dentist but had no luck. She eventually decided to try private practices but was shocked to discover that the work she needed would cost almost £20,000.

Hospital chaplain, Sally, said that her dental issues are impacting her day to day life and contributing to low confidence. She is embarrassed to smile in public and she is using putty to fill the gap because she feels as though she looks like “Nanny McPhee.”

After researching dental clinics in Turkey, Sally found that she could get the treatment she needed and cover the cost of flights and accommodation in Antalya for around £5,000. She admitted that she was nervous about travelling abroad but said that she had no choice but to explore other options due to the cost of treatment at home.

Turkey has become an incredibly popular destination for dental treatment in recent years. Prices can be up to 70% lower than costs in the UK.
