A vacant cemetery building in Bradford could soon be transformed into a new dental surgery after plans were submitted to change the use of the lodge at Nab Wood Cemetery.

The empty lodge, which is located off Bingley Road, has previously been used by the council and Co-Op Funeralcare. Plans to convert the premises into a residential property were approved in 2011, but building work never started.
A new application to convert the building into a dental surgery has been submitted by Mr Mohammed Amar.

The application details proposals to change the use of the lodge to a dental surgery and create new office space.
If the plans are approved by the local council, the practice will open from 7.30am until 7pm with the potential to provide additional emergency dental services outside of regular working hours. A decision is expected in April.

Nab Wood Cemetery is home to one of three crematoria in the city, but the facility is due to close as part of revised plans to modify bereavement services in the area. The Nab Wood crematorium will be replaced by a new facility in Heaton. The garden of remembrance and the cemetery will remain open once the new crematorium opens.
