US Attorneys Issue Warning Over Discount Dental Emails

Sample News Big

Attorneys and public health experts in America have issued a warning over emails offering discount dental services.

Many people have reported receiving almost daily discounts in their email inbox, with some companies offering up to 90% off services such as cleaning treatments and examinations. Groupon is one of the major companies targeting consumer inboxes.

With so many people without insurance and the cost of dental care rising, a growing number of patients are going online to find cheap deals, but concerns have been raised about the quality of care and the legalities of the situation. Lance Plunkett, Attorney for NY State Dental Association, said that it is illegal for dentists and doctors to split fees with third party companies, meaning that they could not offer a firm, for example Groupon, money in exchange for advertising their dental deals.

Rob Schutz, the director of business development for KGB Deals, a major Internet discount company, said that the company had not received any contact from the NY State Office of Professions or other government agencies over the legality of their practice.
