A brand new pediatric dental clinic is set to open at the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry.

The University of Minnesota Pediatric Dental Clinic will open on April 3rd, with the project made possible by Delta Dental of Minnesota.

Talks about a pediatric dental clinic first started more than three years ago, however, building work to convert the Fairview Women’s Clinic into a children’s clinic began in October.

The clinic will also host the advanced pediatric dentistry programme, which is designed for dentists who are already qualified and want to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry, with the programme taking two years.

The clinic is located across the road from Amplatz Children’s Hospital and shares a site with other pediatric clinics, which will encourage inter-professional work, according to Dan Shaw, interim director of the clinic and pediatric dentist.

The clinic, which is located on the fourth floor of the dental school, has fourteen rooms, six of which are designed for children who require specialist accommodation.
