University Of Manchester Welcomes New Head Of Dentistry

Professor Paul Coulthard has been selected as the new Head of Dentistry at the University Of Manchester School Of Dentistry. He replaces Professor Iain Mackie, who held the position for four years.

Paul is a professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Manchester who also works as a consultant in Oral Surgery at the Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust. His appointment follows an international search for a suitable candidate.

He has published more than 140 research papers and has a number of special interests, including dental implant implantology, pain management and the care of patients who suffer from anxiety.

Professor Coulthard has a number of aims for his new role, including maintaining the excellent reputation of the school, to develop research and to continue to invest in new technology and innovative teaching methods.

The new Professor has a PhD in Neuroscience and an MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is highly qualified and experienced and is looking forward to a new challenge.
