Tyneside Dental Team preparing for Charity Run

The team from Bute Dental in Blaydon are preparing to run the Blaydon Race to raise money for Marie Cure Cancer Care.

Members of staff are taking on the challenge in memory of their colleague, Dr Jill Graham, who died of cancer last November at the age of 34. Dr Graham was a keen athlete and used to participate in the annual run before she was diagnosed with cancer in July 2008.

Dr Mark Haigh said that Dr Graham had been a very keen sports fan and she regularly competed in races and triathlons. A team of four will now take on the Blaydon Race in her memory.

Dr Haigh said that his former colleague had been extremely popular with patients and the race was a fitting tribute to her, as well as an excellent opportunity to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a very worthwhile cause.

The team at Bute Dental is also busy promoting National Smile Month, which is a national campaign run by the British Dental Health Foundation. Children from local schools have visited the practice to learn about oral hygiene and oral health and staff have been trying to get as many people as possible involved in activities and events.

The race is due to take place this evening.
