Tornado blows woman’s braces 100 miles away

Sample News Big

A man walking along a beach in Massachusetts made an interesting discovery when he came across a plastic bag containing dental aligners – the braces had been blown 100 miles by a tornado.

Rick Maurice was enjoying a stroll along a beach on Tuckernuck Island, off Nantucket, when he came across the bag containing the braces. The bag was labelled with the dentist’s name, which allowed Mr Maurice to track the owner down using Google.

Tammy Lamy’s Invisalign aligners had been in the closet of her Brimfield home when the tornado struck on 1st June; they were somehow swept away to sea and found by Mr Maurice over a hundred miles away.

Dr Scott Smith, the Springfield dentist whose name was on the clear bag containing the aligners, said that he was amazed by the story and the journey the aligners had made.

Mr Maurice and his wife usually spend the summer months on Nantucket Island but they came earlier this year because their New Zealand home was destroyed by the Christchurch earthquake in February. The couple is now awaiting news on whether they will be able to move back to New Zealand. They are currently staying with friends and family members and considering buying a property on Nantucket Island.
