Tories to allow dentists to fine patients

Sample News Big

The Tories have revealed that they would allow dentists to fine patients that consistently missed appointments if they are elected.

This new scheme is part of the Conservatives’ wider plan to get people to make extra payments for NHS services despite claiming to be the party of the NHS.

Andy Burnham, the government’s health secretary, blasted the plans saying that these fines, which are expected to cost around £20, would hit poorer people hardest.

There are also fears that these plans could lead to GPs issuing similar fines and to charging people to stay in hospital.

Mr Burnham called these policies “staggering” and said that the people who were most in need of care would be the most affected.

He also said that policies which allowed health professionals to fine patients would take the health service in a worrying direction.
