Thousands of NHS dental places to be created in Newton Abbot

Sample News Big

It has been revealed that thousands of NHS dental places are set to become available in Newton Abbot.

NHS Devon has announced that 4000 new places will be made available after the El-Nashar Dental Practice in Newton Abbot announced that it would no longer treat adult NHS patients. Practice manager Sharon El-Nashar, said that the decision to stop NHS treatment for adult patients was very difficult; from June, patients must pay for private treatment if they want to receive treatment at the practice.

Andrew Harris, from NHS Devon, said that the news was disappointing, as NHS Devon has tried to improve access to NHS dental services in the area for many years; however, they have already made provisions for 4,000 new places to replace places at the El-Nashar practice and an additional 500 places will also be created. Two new dentists will start work at practices in Newton Abbot in April and health bosses have confirmed that there will be a sufficient number of places to cater for demand in the area. Patients who were registered with the El-Nashar practice who want to stay with the NHS are advised to contact NHS Devon.
