Swindon dental practice hosts open day

A Swindon dental practice held an open day yesterday to try and encourage new patients to sign up.

Swindon Dental Care, which is based at Eldene Health Centre, opened in the summer and so far almost 3,000 patients have registered with the practice; however, there is an unlimited register and dentists are keen to raise awareness of the free places and encourage local people to sign up and benefit from the services at the surgery.

Yesterday, the surgery was open for people to chat to dentists and other members of staff, have a tour around the surgery and learn about what kinds of services are available at the practice. Guests were also given free refreshments and a goodie bag.

Practice manager, Kelly Brown, said that the event was designed to encourage local people to make the most of the services on offer to them at the practice. The demand for NHS dental places is still high in the area but registration numbers have been relatively low because many people are unaware that the surgery has free places. Members of staff at the surgery are hoping that the open day will urge people to sign up and spread the word that free places are available.

The practice is the 23rd surgery to open in the Swindon area, as the NHS continues to invest in dental services in the area.
